NEW LASU GOVERNING COUNCIL SET TO APPOINT VC for UNIVERSITY, PLEDGES FAIRNESS

The newly appointed governing council of Lagos State University(LASU) Ojo has indicated readiness to start the process of appointing the next substantive vice-chancellor for the university.

The council pledged fairness and firmness in performing the role and other roles required of members by the laws.

The chairman of the council and pro-chancellor, Sir David Sunmoni, stated this at the inaugural meeting of the council held at the main campus of the university on Tuesday.

Recall that the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the university, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had on Thursday, 8th July 2021, inaugurated the new council following the dissolution of the previous council led by Prof Adebayo Ninalowo over crisis trailing the appointment of a new VC.

Mr Sumoni, in a statement made available by the university’s spokesman, Mr Ademola Adekoya, on Friday, said the first major assignment before the council was to appoint the 9th vice-chancellor for the university, charging all members to work as a team and be fair and firm in the discharge of their mandate.

He stated that council members would certainly leverage their diverse academic backgrounds, work experiences, knowledge and exposures to take LASU through their roles to greater heights.

Other council members in attendance, according to the statement, include the acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyedamola Oke; deputy VC(Academic), Prof Elias Wahab; Acting Registrar, Mr Emmanuel Fanu; Mr Anuoluwapo Eso, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, Mr Tolani Sule, Mrs Foluke Abdulrazaq, Mrs Moronke Williams, Mr Adebayo Akinsanya, Mrs Adenike Yomi-Faseun, Mrs Mojisola Tolagbe Taiwo and Dr Hakeem Adetugbobo

 

Prof. Abiodun Adewuya, Prof. Danoye Oguntola-Laguda, Prof. Mobolaji Oludara, Prof. Yemi Akinkuotu, Mr Yakubu Jubril, Mr Albert Yemaren Agosu, Mrs Oluwakemi Kalesanwo and Mr Faruk Danmole were also in attendance while the trio of Mr Adekunle Soname, Prof. Shaffdeen Amuwo and Mr Karl Olutokun Toriola, were said to have taken permission for their absence.
