WITHHELD SALARIES: SSANU, NASU BEGINS NATIONWIDE STRIKE PROTESTS

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU have started a seven-day nationwide strike with a protest over non-payment of their salaries that were withheld during their 2022 protracted industrial action.

The two university-based unions are unhappy that the Federal Government has approved and paid members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, their withheld salaries but they insist that theirs should also be released.

ASUU was on strike for eight months in 2022 while SSANU and NASU suspended their actions earlier than the lecturers.

At the University of Abuja, members of SSANU and NASU took to the institution’s entrance gate to stage their protest.
