Osopadec Bursary: Gov. Akeredolu accepts to pay bursary on 30th of June after student protested.

ILAJE AND ESE-ODO STUDENTS PROTEST NON PAYMENT OF THEIR OSOPADEC BURSARY AND SCHOLARSHIP

The students of Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State under the affiliation of National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS) and Federation of Ese Odo Local Government Student (FELGOS) respectively on Monday staged a peaceful protest over unpaid OSOPADEC bursary and Scholarship at the Accountant General’s office in Alagbaka Akure.

The OSOPADEC bursary and Scholarship scheme which was said to have been approved by The Governor in October 2019 and flagged off in December 2019 was said to be joining the lists of audio project of the government.

The understudies bunch who trooped out En masse insisted not returning to their different homes till they get paid, expressing that over 80% of the understudies haven’t been paid as the flag off was done in December was simply to calm and wheedle them.

The National President of NAIS , Comr Obebe Emmanuel in his address express his disappointment on the issue as they should be appling for another bursary and scholarship not upsetting for the later.

Comrade Ogunga mary (NAIS Vice President) said The 2017/18 OSOPADEC bursary and grant was affirmed by the Governor in October 2019 and was hailed off by the OSOPADEC commission December 2019, till date 80% of our understudies have not been paid, we’ve requested the commission through fundamental channels but to no avail and this prompted us taking over the street. If 40% out of the 13% oil deduction is meant for the mandate areas, for what reason is OSOPADEC not paying us.

The National President of FELGOS Comrade Olugbenga Samuel in his response expressed it’s uncalled for as the understudies are not having a lot of the alleged privilege from the commission without unsettling emphatically fighting for it.

The Students’ Leaders were called for discourse by the Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor, Hon Muyiwa Ogunyemi alongside Attorney General of Ondo State, Accountant General, OSOPADEC Chairman in the midst of others. After quite a while deliberation of constructive contention from the two sides, it was concurred on that the understudies will be full paid the required funds at the latest 30th of June, 2020 and a composed report was duely impacted and signed by both parties.
