OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY, (OAU) TO CONFER ADEGBULUGBE WITH RESEARCH EXCELLENCE AWARD
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has announced Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe, an illustrious alumnus of the University, as the pioneer recipient of its newly introduced Excellence in Research Practice Award.
The Executive Director of the Univeristy’s Central Office of Research (COR), Professor Akanni Akinyemi, who made the announcement on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simeon Bamire, disclosed that the Award of Excellence in Research Practice is a prestigious award given to an Alumnus of the University with an outstanding record of knowledge-based accomplishment at global and national levels.
According to Professor Akinyemi, Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe’s selection is based on his outstanding contribution to the society and the energy sector in Nigeria in particular and globally.
“His excellent academic record as a student of the University, and his reputation in research and practice are indelible, and would continue to inspire both staff and students of the University”, he added.
While noting that the award debuts this year and Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe is the first awardee of the prestigious annual honour, the COR’s helmsman further hinted that a conferment ceremony is fixed for June 27th, 2023 at 10:00am, inside the prestigious Oduduwa Hall of the University.
He continued that the best students across all Departments in the Umiversity will be honoured on the same day, and as part of the landmark event
Professor Akinyemi added that by the award, Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe will not only serve as a mentor for this group of excellent students, but also as the face of academic and research excellence for the Institution for the next one year (2023/2024).
