A former Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Prof. Peter Okebukola, has been appointed as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Samuel Adegboye University, Ogwa, Edo State.
The varsity, owned by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, LAWNA Territory, also appointed Prof. Samson Fatokun, as chairman, Board of Trustee.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Okebukola, said, “We are building on what we inherited and God will give us the grace to move the university forward. In the next four years, SAU will come up strong, we are working with the BOT, we are going to take SAU, to exceeding great height.
“There are 46 programmes approved. The academic staff are top-notch, I was told by NUC regulatory agency that SAU is not doing badly. I have seen universities all over the world and for the age of this university, we are not doing badly. We will develop a work plan like metrics, where we will be measured.”
Fatokun also promised to reposition the university to world-class status.
He said, “On behalf of members of the committee, we shall reposition the university by God’s grace to world-class status. God told me He will do a new thing and a new thing will come for a new identity.”
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Adewunmi Idowu, said he looked forward to breaking new grounds through the new dispensation.
“It is a new dispensation today, a new board of trustee was inaugurated. I am expecting a new agenda that will take the university to a new level and make provision available for all the agenda,” Idowu said.
The Chairman of Resource Mobilisation sub-Committee, Mr E.O Baiyekusi, also solicited financial support from members of the church so as to achieve the set goals.
