LASU VC: Awori back Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello

As race for the vice chancellorship of the Lagos state University intensifies, the Aworis in Lagos have thrown their weight behind Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, saying she is the right person for the job.

The Akogun of Oto-Awori Kingdom, Dawodu Avoseh, in a statement on Wednesday, noted that Olatunji-Bello, a PhD holder in Physiology, was qualified to become the VC having occupied the position in acting capacity for almost two years and having earlier served as a deputy vice chancellor.

Avoseh disclosed that of the three shortlisted candidates for the position, Olatunji-Bello was the most experienced.

On the issue about her origin, the Awori high chief said the woman is an indigene of Lagos State through her mother, who is from the Abraham Onigbanjo family of Olowoogbowo Area, Ita Kose of Lagos Island.

“Her maternal grandfather Abraham Babatunde was a mechanical engineer with the Nigerian Railways Corporation, while her great grandfather, Abraham Onigbanjo was an auctioneer,” he added.
