Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Lagos State University, (LASU) will record another historic feat by becoming a campus-resident eldorado for its students pretty soon.
And when this is achieved, the Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello-led administration of the almost four-decade-old first state-owned university in Nigeria will enter the history book as a jinx breaker.
Giving a hint at this long-awaited soon-to-break news was the 8th substantive VC of the university, Prof. Olatunji-Bello while chatting with media representatives on the sideline of the 2021/2022 matriculation ceremony at the expansive Buba Marwa Main Auditorium of the institution on Monday, September 5, 2022.
The first Pastor-VC of the Africa Centre of Excellence enthused that finishing touches were being put on the female wing of the envisioned 6000-resident -capacity hostel of the institution.
According to her, the female hostel might just be ready for habitation by next semester.
Meanwhile, the university gunning to make the best in West Africa within the coming four years has matriculated 6,377 students for the 2021/2022 academic session.
This figure represents the privileged few that scaled the highly competitive selection process that led to their final provisional admission to the increasingly oversubscribed, low-fee-paying, yet high-quality academic-delivering state university.
