LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION BEGINS INDEFINITE STRIKE

On behalf of the Chairman and the Executive of our great Union, I would like to wish all members a prosperous New Year. It is our hope and expectation that the year 2025 will bring about the resolution of all our welfare demands.

*MEETING WITH THE HON. COMMISSIONER FOR TERTIARY EDUCATION*

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of LASUED was invited to a meeting on December 24, 2024. During the meeting, the Hon. Commissioner expressed his concerns and assured us that, on or before January 6, 2025, the issues regarding the 72 months arrears of Hazard and Transport Allowances, as well as the unremitted pension funds, would be resolved permanently. Furthermore, JAC was informed that the Ministry of Establishment would soon invite the JAC of LASUED, alongside unions from other universities, to address the following critical issues:

* Harmonization of the Salary Structure for all Tertiary Institutions in Lagos State.

* Payment of the 25/35% Salary Increment.

However, as of the time of writing this update, none of the aforementioned promises have been fulfilled by the Government side.

In light of this, we wish to inform all members that the ongoing strike action continues. We want to reassure everyone that we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that all our demands are met.

*Aluta Continua, Victoria Aserta*

E-signed,

Branch Secretary
