*ADMISSION INTO LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES*
1. *PREAMBLE*:
Lagos State University in conjunction with LASU Consult Limited hereby invites application from suitably qualified candidates for LASU Certificates and Diploma Programmes in the 2022/2023 Academic Session. As provided in the Edict establishing the institution, the mission of the University is to provide qualitative education to the large populace of Lagos State by preparing them for the challenges of managing the private and public sectors of the state through taking education nearer and closer to the people desirous of acquiring knowledge.
*ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATE COURSES*
(1) *CERTIFICATE IN TOUR GUIDING*
Admission Requirements
Candidates should obtain three (3) credit passes in relevant subjects in Arts, Sciences and Commercial Studies at not more than two (2) sittings at GCE/WAEC/SSCE/NECO. Credit pass in English Language will be an added advantage.
WAIVER
Matured Candidates not less than 30 years old who possess other Certificates and at least five years’ work of experience in their chosen course of study are also eligible to apply.

(2) *CERTIFICATE IN REAL ESTATE & FACILITY MANAGEMENT*
Admission Requirements
Admission into Certificate in Real Estate & Facility Management is opened to SSCE/GCE holders who must have any three (3) compulsory ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings.
*Duration*: The certificate programme in Real Estate & Facility Management is a Part-Time Programme and will run for a period of Six (6) months (intensive training)

(3) *CERTIFICATE IN SOCIAL WORK AND ADMINISTRATION*
Admission Requirements
An applicant for admission into Certificate in Social Work and Administration shall be required to possess any of the following qualifications:
a. Senior secondary school certificate with at least three (3) credits passes including English Language
b. GCE Level with at least 3 credit s including English Language
c. SSSC or GCE O’ level with at least 3 or less Credits and a Minimum of 30 years of age.
d. Officers from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Religious Organizations, Media, Local Government Service, and Security Agencies amongst others can also apply
e. Any other interested candidates with OND/NCE/B.SC Certificates or equivalent qualifications

Admission Requirements
Candidates must have obtained four credit passes at not more than two sittings at Ordinary Level/Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WAEC, NECO, or GCE). The credits must include English and three other subjects.
Matured students, who must hold four (4) O’ level passes and have worked in tourism and hospitality industry for at least five years must posses a pass in English Language or Mathematics and any other subjects
Any other qualification as may be determined by the university Senate from time to time.

(B) *DIPLOMA IN REAL ESTATE & FACILITY MANAGEMENT*
Admission Requirements
Admission into Diploma in Real Estate and Facility Management is opened to SSCE /GCE holders who must have Five (5) O’ level credits passes including English and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. Holders of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or its equivalent from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology, not below Pass and any other qualifications such as membership of relevant Professional bodies such as NITP, CITL, NIM, NIS, NIA, NIESV, NIOB, ATC, NSE as approved by the Senate of Lagos State University may also be considered for admission.

(C) *DIPLOMA IN LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE*
Admission Requirements
Candidates with Five (5) credits at not more than two sittings to include English Language at the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), General Certificate of Education (GCE) or National Examination Council (NECO). Candidates with merits in Four (4) subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings in Grade II Teachers Certificate Can also be considered.

(D) *DIPLOMA IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES*
Admission Requirements
Candidates are expected to have Five (5) Credit Passes in O` Level (GCE/SSCE/NECO) which must include: English Language, Literature, Mathematics and two other subjects from Arts, Commercial or Social Sciences

(5) *DIPLOMA IN THEATRE AND FILMS ARTS*
Admission Requirements
Credit pass in the SSCE or GCE “O” Level Examination, NECO or its equivalent in four (4) subject including English Language at not more than (2) sittings or Credit passes in the Teachers Grade II Examination including English Language and Social Studies. Credit in Literature in English will be an added advantage.
Waivers shall be given to mature students (not less than 30 years of age) with other certificates but who have (3) three years` experience in Theatre and Media Arts Practices and with a recommendation letter from a renowned professional or organization.

(E) *DIPLOMA IN ECONOMIC STUDIES*
Admission Requirements
Credit passes in at least four (4) subjects including: English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects in the General Certificate of Education (GCE), Senior School Certificate of Education (SSCE) or its equivalents.
A Professional Certificate in Technology, Business Administration, Banking, Accounting, Law, Marketing, Finance or Insurance and holders of related Professional Certificates, is also acceptable.

(E1) *DIPLOMA IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT*
Admission Requirements
Credit passes in at least Four (4) subjects including English, Mathematics, and any other subjects like Commerce, Civil Education, Biology, Economics, Government, as well as and any other subject in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, (SSCE) WAEC/NECO, General Certificates of Education (GCE), Ordinary Level, or its equivalent
Matured Candidates of not less than 30 years of age with at least a pass in either English Language or Mathematics plus credit passes in three relevant subjects may be considered.
Four (4) Credit Passes which must include English Language and Mathematics or at least a pass in either Mathematics or English but with not less than Ten (!0) years cognate working experience may also be considered
Four (4) Credit Passes in Teachers Grade II/WAEC Technical/NABTEB Certificate for Candidates who are not less than 30 years of age. A minimum of 10 years cognate work experience is required.

(F) *DIPLOMA IN PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION*
Admission Requirements
Grade II Teachers Certificate with at least Three (3) Merits, one of which must be Physical and Health Education
West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) /General Certificate of Education (GCE) with at least Three (3) credits passes at O’ level.
Mature Candidates who can benefit from the programme could also apply (Not Less than 35 years of Age)

(A) *DIPLOMA IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS AND STRATEGIC STUDIES (DIASS)*
Admission Requirements
Four (4) credit passes at not more than Two (2) sittings to include English Language and History or Government in SSCE or its equivalent.
Candidates with less than Four (4) credits but with English Languages and one of History or Government and at least ten years work experience. Can apply.

(G) *DIPLOMA IN LAW*
Admission Requirements
Aspiring candidates must have at least Four (4) Credit passes at SSCE/GCE/NECO or its equivalent, including English Language
Mature Candidates of not less thirty-five (35) years of age with at least a pass in English Language or Mathematics and with ten (10) years working experience at managerial level may be considered

(E1) *DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION*
Admission Requirements
Prospective candidates for the Diploma in Public Administration Part-Time Programme must possess the West Africa Senior School Certificate (WAEC), Senior Secondary School Certificate NECO or GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent with a minimum of Four (4) Credits including English Language.
Mature Candidates who do not possess the minimum entry requirements but who can prove that they have sufficient work experience in Public Administration may be admitted, so far as they have attained the age of 35 years.

(A) *DIPLOMA IN MUSIC*
Admission Requirements
Credit passes in at least three (3) O’ level subjects, a minimum of merit pass at Grade 3 Level in ABRSM or MUSON examination is acceptable for the program.
Applicants by whichever mode they seek admission, must satisfy the Department of their basic musical aptitude and competence at a specially conducted departmental audition. This consists of written (theoretical), practical (playing of various instruments, singing etc.) as well as aural examination. Candidates are recommended for admission only after they have passed the audition.

(E1) *DIPLOMA IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION &DEVELOPMENT STUDIES*
Admission Requirements
WASC, SSCE, NECO, GCE O’L, NABTEB, TC II or equivalent with a minimum of Four (4) credits including English Language and Mathematics.
Certificates in Local Government, Public Administration and other relevant certificates recognized by the institution. PSSDC Certificate in Local Government Administration and any other professional certificate recognized by the institutions. Candidates may be required to undergo written examination and interviews.

(E1) *DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION*
Admission Requirements
Candidates for the Diploma in Business Administration are required to possess at least four (4) Credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO Ordinary Level which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and/or Commerce and any other subject from Physical and Social Sciences

Admission Requirements
Candidates for the Diploma in Entrepreneurship are required to possess at least Four (4) Credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO Ordinary Level which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and/or Commerce and any other subject from Physical and Social Science.

Admission Requirements
Candidates for the Diploma in Marketing are required to possess a four (4) O- Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Marketing, Commerce, Economics and any other subjects from Physical and Social Sciences.

(17) *DIPLOMA IN PHILOSOPHY*
Admission Requirements
Candidate intending to be admitted for the programme must obtain requisite certificate (s) as specified below:
Candidates with Four (4) credits passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include English Language at the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), West African School Certificate (WAEC), General Certificate of Education (GCE) or National Examination Council (NECO) Certificate.
Candidates with merits in Four (4) subjects including English Language at not more than two (2) sittings in Grade II Teachers’ Certificate.
Mature candidates who are thirty (30) years old and above possess three (3) credits passes which must include English Language.
Candidates with Five (5) credits passes in WASC, NECO or GCE or TCII with at least a pass in English.
There shall be a qualifying examination and interview for all applicants to be conducted by the University through the Department of Philosophy.

(E1) *DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING*
Admission Requirements
Applicants with the following qualifications may be considered for admission into the Diploma in Accounting Programme by direct entry:
(i) G.C.E. Ordinary Level or its equivalent (Teachers Grade II, W.A.S.C., S.S.C.E.) with Five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any other three (5) subjects from physical and social sciences subjects or
(ii) Five credit passes in relevant subjects as stated in (i) above obtained at the final examination of an NBTE recognized Preliminary ND Programme offered by the polytechnics and similar post-secondary technical institutions.
Candidates may also be interviewed or required to take a written examination, or both as parts of the admission requirements

(H) *DIPLOMA IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING*
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission into the Diploma programme, candidate must possess one of the following.
Candidates with SSCE/WAEC or equivalent O’ Level with credit in Physics, Mathematics, and any two of the following courses: Chemistry, English Language, Technical Drawing, Economics Geography and Agricultural Science. A minimum of a Pass in English Language, is required for admission.

(H) *DIPLOMA IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING*
Admission Requirements
Applicants that meet any of the following requirements are eligible:
Potential candidates must possess SSCE/WASCE/GCE (O’ Level) or its equivalent with a minimum of Four (4) credits in Chemistry, Mathematics and any two of the following courses: Physics, Biology, Further-Maths, Agricultural Science, Geography and Economics. A minimum of Credit Pass in English Language is required for admission.
National Technical Certificate in related science subjects with credit passes.
Mature candidates, not less than 30 years of age with five (5) years working experience in Chemical Engineering industries may be considered for admission if such candidates possess at least three (3) credits in related science subjects of which Chemistry, Mathematics and English are a must.
Candidates may also be interviewed or required to take a written examination, or both as parts of the admission requirements

(H) *DIPLOMA IN ELECTRONIC AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING*
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission into the Diploma programme in Electronic and Computer Engineering, candidate must possess one of the following:
(i) Candidate with SSCE/WASCE/GCE (O’Level) with credit in Physics, Mathematics and any two of the following courses: Chemistry, Biology, English Language, Economics, Geography, Agricultural science, A Minimum of a ‘credit pass in English Language is required for admission.
(ii) National Technical Certificate in related science subject with credit passes.
(iii) Candidates aged 30 years who have been working in Electronic and Computer industries for an upward of Five (5) years but do not meet the above requirements may be considered if they have pass in Three (3) subject which must include Physics, Mathematics and a credit in English Language.

(H) *DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN NURSERY AND PRIMARY EDUCATION*
Admission Requirements
Four types of persons are expected to take advantage of this programme.
Teachers with Grade II or other qualifications recognized in Nursery and
Primary Education who have at least three years’ experience in teaching.
Candidates with Three (3) credit passes at ordinary Level including English Language.
Matured candidates who are above-35 years but do not have the required three (3) credit passes.
Candidate with passes in N.C.E.

I. *Diploma in Educational Management*
*Admission Requirements:*
O’ level credit in four (4) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, are required and any other two (2) subjects from Arts, Commercial, Sciences and Social Sciences. Candidate with ordinary “pass” in either English or Mathematics may be accepted on the basis that he/she would present the required credit in the deficient subject before graduation.
J. *Diploma in Planning Studies*
*Admission Requirements:*
i. O’ level credit in four (4) subjects which must include either English Language/Literature or Mathematics.
ii. A pass in English Language or Mathematics with credit in any other two (2) subjects.
iii. OND/NCE/ICAN foundation/ATS/GRD 2.
iv. Mature candidate not below 35 years with NOT more than one deficiency from (b) above.
v. A’ level pass in at least two (2) subjects. Every A’ level credit is an equivalent of O’ level credit.
vi. Any other qualifications as may be determined by the University Senate from time to time.
*Duration* : The Diploma Programmes are Part-Time Programme and will run for a period of Four (4) Semesters.
