LASU SECURES NUC APPROVAL TO COMMENCE 20 NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

…B.Sc Architecture, Survey and Geo-Informatics, Library and Information Science, Doctor of Pharmacy, others to commence from 2023/2024 Academic Session

In what can be considered a major academic milestone in the Lagos State University, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of Twenty (20) new programmes at the undergraduate level of the University. The Twenty programmes approved equals a 100% of the programmes submitted by the University for resource verification by the regulatory Body, a feat unprecedented in the University’s history.

The newly approved programmes include

1. B.Sc. Architecture,
2. B.Sc. Building,
3. B.Sc. Estate Management,
4. B.Sc. Environmental Management,
5. B.Sc. Industrial Design,
6. B.Sc. Survey and Geo-Informatics,
7. B.Sc. Quantity Surveying,
8. B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning,
9. B.A. Fine Arts,
10. B.LIS. Library and Information Science,
11. B.Ed. Special Education,
12. B.Eng. Industrial Engineering & Production,
13. B. Radiography and Radiation Science,
14. BMLS. Medical Laboratory Science,
15. B.A. Linguistics,
16. B.Eng. Civil Engineering,
17. B.Sc. Science Laboratory Technology
18.  B.Sc Taxation,
19. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)
20. Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT), all at the undergraduate level.

The approval followed a resource verification exercise carried out in April, this year, by panels of experts from the NUC on the Twenty (20) new programmes domiciled in the four newly established faculties and School – Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences

Faculty of Environmental Sciences, and School of Library, Archival and Information Science – in the University.

According to the NUC’s letter of approval received by the University on Friday, 7th July 2023, the programmes will run full-time, effective from the 2023/2024 academic session.

The approval marks the fulfillment of one of the strategic goals of the current administration of the University under the leadership of Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, which is to establish and commence new academic programmes in four new Faculties and School of the University.

The Vice Chancellor while reacting to the news, appreciated the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the University, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for providing the leadership and support to actualize the goal, while congratulating the entire university community on the achievement.
