LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY, (LASU) ANNOUNCES ONLINE CLEARANCE DATE FOR THE 2021/2022 NEWLY ADMITTED STUDENTS

2021/2022 ADMISSION EXERCISE: CLEARANCE EXERCISE FOR NEWLY ADMITTED CANDIDATES TO BEGIN 20TH JUNE

STUDENTS MUST GET MATRIC NUMBER FROM THEIR FIRST DAY IN SCHOOL – VC

Following an emergency meeting of the University Central Admission Clearance Committee (LACACA), which held on Friday at the Council Chambers, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, main campus, Ojo, it has been revealed that the central online clearance for newly admitted candidates will commence from Monday 20th June and run for two weeks till Monday 4th July, 2022.

The meeting, which had in attendance members of the clearance committee, including members of the university management, deans, faculty officers and staff of the ICT and Admissions Office, was chaired by the vice chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni.

The vice chancellor, in her address to the members said all hands must be on deck to ensure a swift and seamless clearance of candidates, insisting that henceforth, students must get their matriculation number from their first day in the university.

She further announced that the flow of clearance will begin with the students submitting their data via the LACACA platform. The ICT will then clear the student, followed by the responsible faculty officer, to the responsible dean of faculty and finally to the vice chancellor.

“As soon as a candidate is cleared, such candidate must immediately get matric number, unlike previously when students would have gone almost a session writing tests and assignments without matric numbers. The clearance process must not be delayed at any point. I will be on the platform myself to give final approval, so once I see any delay anywhere, the officer will he sanctioned”, she said.

The Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) while speaking on the process said the LACACA platform will create a global handshake between the university, WAEC and JAMB to ensure that students get their matric numbers as and when due. He added that the exercise will assist to ensure that the university minimises errors that might arise at the time a student is graduating from the University, say for example, a change in name.

Meanwhile, deans in attendance have praised the university under the leadership of Prof. Olatunji-Bello for the online clearance initiative (LACACA) while also reserving kudos for the ICT team. They also suggested ways to improve the platform.

A special training on the operations of the platform will be conducted by the DICT on Friday, 17th June, 2022 preparatory to the commencement of the exercise.

The deputy vice chancellor, Administration, who also doubles as the chairman, Admission Committee, Prof. Adenike Boyo; registrar, Mr. Olayinka Amuni; bursar, Mr. Said Olayinka and the university librarian, Dr. Emmanuel Layi Adebayo were also in attendance.
