JAMB : 1.25 MILLION CANDIDATES TO PARTICIPATE IN 2023 UTME

Registration for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) being organized

by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions has officially ended.

 

The exercise started on January 14, 2023, and ended yesterday.

 

Meanwhile, Direct Entry (DE) registration would kick off on Monday, February 20, and run till Thursday, April 20.

 

JAMB spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, told Daily Sun that 1.250 million candidates successfully registered with 167,810 candidates indicating interest to participate in the mock examination which will precede the UTME.

 

The mock examination was introduced in 2016 by JAMB to enable candidates get acquainted with the Computer Based Test (CBT) system being used to conduct the examination.

 

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, also added that the aim of the mock was to bring candidates face to face with the CBT system, allow them commit all the errors, master the workings of the CBT and most importantly, conquer fear and anxiety so they can have good outing on examination day.

 

Candidates, who are interested in participating in the mock examination were required to pay N1,000 service charge for CBT centres at the point of registration.

 

Examination timetable as earlier released by JAMB indicated that the board, after considering other commitments, fixed Saturday, April 29, for the conduct of the 2023 UTME, and it is expected to run till Monday, May 12.

 

Similarly, the board also fixed Thursday, March 16, for the conduct of mock-UTME which is optional and for candidates who indicated interest and paid the necessary fee.
