The National University Commission, NUC has approved additional five new departments in Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State to the current departments in the Institution.
Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State is a private University with 29 departments before the accreditation of the new five departments, which moved the departments to 34 departments.
The accreditation has also moved up the undergraduate programmes offering in the University from 38 programmes to 55 programmes.
This was made available to the public by the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, while speaking with the newsmen in the Institution premises after the University’s 10th Entrepreneurial Day.
The approval of the new departments and programmes has made Igbinedion University, Okada the largest private university with the highest accredited departments in Nigeria. Also moved from 19 post graduate programmes to 24 programmes.
The new approved departments are,
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Engineering,
B.Sc in Pharmacology,
B.Sc in Software Engineering,
B.Sc in Mechatronics,
B.Sc in Environmental Engineering,
B.Sc in Cybersecurity.
While the new accredited post graduate degree programmes are
Postgraduate Diplomas,
Ph.D Doctor of Philosophy,
Ph.D in Computer Engineering,
Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering,
Ph.D Urban and Regional Planning and
Ph.D in Sociology.
