The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Friday in Abuja, assented to a bill which seeks to establish the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, as a degree-awarding institution to provide academic and professional training.
According to a statement signed late Friday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the Police Academy Bill is one of two bills the President assented to, which were recently passed by the National Assembly.
The statement is titled ‘President Buhari assents to bills on establishment of Nigerian Police Academy, Animal Diseases Control’.
The Nigeria Police Academy (Establishment) Act, 2021 establishes and provides legal framework for the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, as a degree awarding institution to provide academic and professional training.
The Academy will be headed by a Commandant, not below the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, and shall be appointed by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police as stipulated in Section 8 of the Act.
