The 31st Matriculation Ceremony for fresh undergraduate students for the 2023/2024 academic session is schedule as follows:
Date: Friday, 9th August, 2024
Time: 9.00am
Venue: New Convocation Square
2. All Principal Officers and Members of Senate shall process. Heads of Units and other members of staff are requested to attend the occasion.
3. Members of Senate are kindly requested to report at the New Convocation Square by 9.00 A.M. as procession shall begin by 10.00 A.M. prompt.
4. Deans and Heads of Departments are requested to liaise with the Directorate of ICT or Faculty ICT staff to access the list of registered students in their Faculty and Department. They should ensure that all qualified candidates of their respective programmes are properly registered.
5. The orientation of registered students is slated for Tuesday, 6th , Wednesday, 7th and Thursday, 8th August, 2024 at the New Convocation Square. The Orientation Committee will release details of the exercise.
The days slated for Orientation and Matriculation shall be lecture free for fresh undergraduate.
6. Faculty Officers are to commence issuance of matriculation gowns to registered students of their respective faculties as from Friday, 2nd August, 2024.
Each student will be required to collect a matriculation gown on payment of One Thousand Naira (N 1000.00) non-refundable fee at Fidelity Bank Plc, account number:
5030023693 and Zenith Bank, account number: 1011136506.
7. Candidates would present the bank receipt to their Faculty Officers for collection of the items as in (6) above.
Faculty Officers are to keep receipts of gowns issued to candidates.
8. The Academic Office is to issue appropriate matriculation gowns to the Faculty Officers for onward lease to registered fresh students of respective faculties who would have paid the fee of N 1000.00 as in (5) above.
9. All Senate members are to detail a staff to collect their Academic gown from the Academic Office for the ceremony.
10. Fresh students should return matriculation gowns to the Faculty Officers for onward submission to the Academic Office on or before Tuesday, 13th August, 2024
11. Late return of gowns will attract a fine of N500.00 per day payable to the Bursary Department of the University.
12. All fresh students are to download from the University Portal (www.bsum.edu.ng ) and bring to the Orientation/matriculation Ceremony:

ii. University Anthem (Alma Mata Song)
