UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN, (UI) LECTURER QUERIES POST-GRADUATE STUDENTS FOR MISSING A SEMINAR AND WORKING WHILE SCHOOLING

Masters and Ph.D. students of the Department of Linguistics, University of Ibadan were served a query letter by the Head of Department, Prof. H.O. Taiwo, for failing to attend a seminar.

In the letter dated 18 August 2021, the HOD asked the post-graduate students to give reasons for their absence at the mini-seminar presentation.

According to a source, some master’s degree students who showed up late were asked by the HoD to carry a heavy cabinet from his office as punishment. The HoD is also alleged to have questioned why most of the students have jobs while being postgraduate students, stating that they were not expected to work while undergoing the program.
