The House of Representatives has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to order a partial reopening of schools in order to allow pupils participate in the 2020 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.
Hon. Nnolim Nnaji on Tuesday moved a motion at the plenary which was unanimously adoptioned.
The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 had earlier said the Federal Government, in what it called “safe reopening of schools,” approving the resumption of pupils in graduating classes, including Primary 6, Junior Secondary School 3 and the Senior Secondary School 3.
But the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, at the end of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by the President last Wednesday said all federal schools would remain closed until it was safe to reopen them
