JAMB CONDUCTS 2022 MOP-UP UTME FOR 40,399 CANDIDATES NATIONWIDE

Having thoroughly investigated cases of examination misconduct necessitating the cancellation of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in some centres across the country, as well as taking into cognisance the finger-print peculiarities, biometric challenges and technical problems which prevented certain candidates from sitting the UTME as conducted generally in May, 2022, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in the spirit of equity and fairness, has conducted a mop-up examination for the affected candidates numbering about 40,399 candidates on Saturday, 6th August, 2022.

 

The mop-up examination, which took place in (45) centres across the country, was seamless given the various measures put in place by the Board for a hitch-free exercise.

 

It would be recalled that ahead of the exercise, a series of stakeholders’ meetings were held both virtually and physically to sensitise examination officials and emplace all necessary logistics for the smooth conduct of the examination.

 

In a statement made available to JAMBulletin on Thursday, 4th August, 2022, 40,399 candidates were expected to participate in the examination across the 36 States of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. According to the statement, topping the list of the rescheduled candidates was Imo State with the total number of 8, 913 candidates.

 

This was followed by Anambra State with 5,786 while Lagos State had 5, 143 and Adamawa State, the least, with 65 candidates. On a general assessment, the 2022 mop-up examination was a huge success. The Registrar, Prof. Is- haq Oloyede, who monitored the conduct of the examination in some centres in Lagos, commended the process and gave assurances that the selection of centres for the 2023 UTME would eliminate all instances of centre failure on account of technical challenges.

 

The Registrar was accompanied on the monitoring exercise by the Director, General Services, Mr. Mohammed Shehu; the Director, of Legal Services, Dr. Abdul Wahab Oyedukun and the Head, Public Affairs & Protocols, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
