Akwa Ibom University extension notice on closure of University
This is to inform all staff members and students of the Akwa Ibom State University that, sequel to the postponement of the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to March 18, 2023, the Minister of Education has directed that the closure of all Universities and Inter-Universities Centre be extended to March 20, 2023.
By this circular all staff members and students are hereby informed that school will resume on Monday, March 20, 2023. All new students (freshers) will resume on Monday, March 20th, 2023, while returning students will resume on March 28th, 2023. Please note that school fees payment portal is opened for new and returning students.
The examination scheduled for the period now extended will be rescheduled. A new time table will be circulated to all students shortly.
However, all staff members on essential duties are to continue with their schedule and the Chief Security Officer is informed to ensure maximum security of University properties.
The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the University Management, advises all staff members and students to endeavor to exercise their franchise.

Physical classes will now resume on Monday, 20 March, 2023.
